Learning Objectives:
1. Recognize the importance of the partnership between the primary care provider and HIV expert in the are of patients.
2. Understand recommendations for HIV screening and treatment.
3. Review the role of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in HIV reduction and identify indications for PrEP.
4. Describe how to prescribe and monitor patients while on PrEP.

Dr. Shweta is an Instructor of Medicine, a board certified physician in Internal Medicine, and the incumbent Chief Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship program at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine at Rochester, MN. She completed her residency training at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and attended medical school at the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College in India. She has served as an active duty medical officer in the Indian Army where she held multiple leadership and educational appointments.
Dr. Shweta is an active researcher in HIV medicine and part of the HIV focus group of the infectious diseases division at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Her clinical interests include HIV infection and adult immunosuppressed hosts. She also has particular interest and clinical background in tropical infectious diseases. Her passions include bedside teaching, educational curriculum development and communication in challenging health care setting.
