Hypnosis harnesses the powerful imaginations of children to interrupt problematic cognitive and physical patterns. Participants will learn how to use hypnotic techniques to manage common childhood problems, such as phobias, sleep issues, school/test anxiety, and fear of medical treatment. How to include parents as subjects and hypnosis “assistants” will be addressed.
Educational Objectives:
- List three benefits of using hypnosis with children.
- Describe three hypnotic techniques that could be used to treat common childhood problems.
- Identify examples when hypnosis with children should not be utilized.

Lynn Lyons, LICSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist who lives in Concord, New Hampshire and is in private practice there. For 26 years, Lynn has specialized in the treatment of anxiety disorders in adults and children. Lynn received her BA in English from Williams College in 1987, her Masters in Social Work from Boston University in 1990, and has been training extensively with the world’s experts in clinical hypnosis and strategic therapy since 1993.
