Description
A two-hour workshop, telecast to Still OPTI sites, focused on the application of osteopathic principles in the clinical management of pain including treatment of somatic dysfunction related to pain.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn the rationale for the inclusion of OMM in the management of pain.
2. Demonstrate OMT techniques that are suitable for the adjunctive care of pain.
3. Learn to describe the role of lifestyle management in pain.
Accreditation Statements:
The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. MAOPS designates this program for a maximum of 2 AOA Category 1-A Credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation.
Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) designates this live activity for a maximum of 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Creditsä. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Karen Snider, DO, FAAO, FNAOME, is a professor at A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM). Dr. Snider is board certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. She earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and she completed residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center. Dr. Snider has earned fellowship awards from the American Academy of Osteopathy and the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators.

Maura Gerdes D.O. FACOI graduated from A.T. Still University in 2010. She completed Internal Medicine residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center where she continues to serve as Chair of the Internal Medicine Department. She is currently practicing outpatient Internal Medicine at Northeast Regional Medical Group.

After serving 8 years in the Surface Warfare Community, she attended Andrew Taylor Still University and is now a 3rd year Internal Medicine Resident at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. On graduation, Dr. Tuia hopes to continue to serve in a rural area.
